Rescued and redeemed...

Our journals and sketchbooks start as antiquated books that have been abandoned, neglected, or abused.  We find them in thrift shops, garage sales, flea markets or anywhere forgotten books may be found.  Our goals are simple.  First, rescue old books and re-purpose them into functional journals and sketchbooks while maintaining the history and character of the original book.  Second, remain environmentally sound. Since 2014, over 20,000 books have been transformed into journals and sketchbooks diverting fourteen tons of paper from the landfill.  All discarded paper is either recycled or shredded and used for shipping.  The paper we place in our journals and sketchbooks is produced from carbon-neutral, renewable energy with 30% to 100% recycled post-consumer waste. Third, encourage and inspire. It is our hope each of our journals encourage and inspire you to write, create and dream.  Finally, spread the message of Jesus Christ. Each of our journals is inspired by the message of the One who rescues and redeems.

Process

On the road to restoration, each book is broken down.  The cover remains unaltered, but the contents of the book are soon to be transformed.  The damaged pages are removed and replaced with approximately 80 pages of 24-lb high-quality paper perfect for sketching or writing. Choose between blank, lined, dot-grid, graph or 57-lb Bristol Vellum (50 pages).  Original, undamaged pages of the book are included in the journal.  The book is cleaned and rebound with a twin loop metal coil that allows the book to easily lay flat.  The vintage book is restored completely by hand, not to its former self, but redeemed for a new purpose.
